Golden Gates
Golden Gates offers audiences an entertaining and authentic glimpse into Eastern and Western Europe – Ukraine, Lithuania, Armenia - through music, song, and dance. The repertoire is centered around masterpieces of folklore and represents the diversity of the culture, ranging from gently humorous songs, to elaborate lyrical suites, to pulsating dance numbers. The program is broad and varied, with something to appeal to everyone, including audience participation though clapping and learning songs and words. Lilting balalaikas, dynamic bayan accordion, humorous dances, and superb vocals combine for an exhilarating and educational performance for audiences of all ages.
Led by Vitaliy Bezrodnov, the group was initially formed under his direction in Kaluga , Russia in the late 1980’s. After completing their Conservatory studies, they regrouped in 1996 in the United States . Initially touring the Western states and the Hawaiian Islands , the group met with great acclaim due to their considerable talents and natural exuberance. Their venues have been as varied as First Night New Year’s Eve Celebrations to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. They also initiated a charity program entitled Music in Mission and Reunite Cultures Fund which raises money for the orphans.
